The Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs both suffered embarrassing defeats last Sunday, getting blown out in key divisional matchup. Both teams will try to keep pace in their divisional races as they square off at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Arizona Cardinals have gone from first place to last in the NFC West division, losing four in a row coming into week 11. The terrible quarterback play has led to the team’s downfall, as Derek Anderson and company have only seven touchdown passes this year with 13 interceptions. Despite this, Larry Fitzgerald has continued to put up strong numbers of 601 yards and four touchdowns, but his 49 receptions is small compared to his 101 targets. Injuries have limited both Beanie Wells availability and play, totaling only 70 carries thus far for 231 yards (3.3 ypc). The Arizona defense hasn’t done anything to help the team’s cause either, ranking 30th overall in total defense.
The Kansas City Chiefs just suffered by far their worst loss of the season, as they fell behind 35-0 within the blink of an eye and were unable to recover. The one consolation that came from the defeat was that even though they had to abandon the run early, they did have success throwing the ball threw for a career high 469 yards for four touchdowns and no interceptions. Receiver Dwayne Bowe was on the receiving end of two of those touchdowns, giving him a league high nine for the season. The Chiefs were undoubtedly try to get back to their strong point and establish the run, as they are still ranked tops in the league in that aspect.
To be quite honest, the fact that Arizona has even the three wins that they do is quite lucky considering how they have played. They ranked 31st in total offense and 30th in total defense, and that is even with a fairly weak schedule. I expect for Kansas City to rebound nicely as they head back home, and dominate this game from the outset.
