Opposite ends of the NFC North meet as the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers meet for a rematch.

This could be the last meeting of Brett Favre and the team he is most associated with, the Green Bay Packers, as his career appears to be headed finally to an end. Favre has taken a beating this season and I think everyone knows that if he had any idea the season would be like it has played out, he may not have come out of retirement. Minnesota has lost three of their last four games and barring a miracle, they won’t even make the playoffs let alone go to the Super Bowl which was Favre’s only reason he came back. For the season Favre has thrown for 2,066 yards with 10 touchdowns and 16 interceptions while getting sacked 17 times. Adrian Peterson is having another big year as he no longer fumbles and just grinds out big gains as he’s rushed for 908 yards and seven touchdowns. Percy Harvin has been Favre’s primary receiver and while he is infinitely talented, he’s been forced into a role that doesn’t fit his strongest assets as without Sidney Rice, the Vikings are missing the complimentary deep threat to stretch the field to let Harvin get the ball in space underneath. Chad Greenway is having a stellar season wit 92 tackles but the pass rush has abandoned Minnesota as Jared Allen has just four and Ray Edwards has three and a half. E.J. Henderson and Hussain Abdullah have two interceptions ech but the Vikings have just eight as a team, a 1:2 ration for what Favre has tossed. For the season the Vikings offense is averaging 18.8 points and 340.9 yards while the defense is allowing 21.7 points and 310.8 yards.

The Green Bay Packers are tied for first place in the NFC North but because of their flag fest loss in Chicago, if the season ended today the Chicago Bears would be the division champions. Aaron Rodgers is no longer seen as the guy who replaced Favre as he is a legitimate pro Bowl QB on his own and he is once again putting up numbers despite losing a good portion of his starting offensive teammates to injury. For the season Rodgers has 2,300 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions while being sacked 17 times. Brandon Jackson is filling in for an injured Ryan Grant and he is getting better by the week while John Kuhn has been grinding out the tough yards. Greg Jennings and Donald Driver are still one of the best tandems in the game and Rodgers gets them the ball. A.J. hawk is leading Green Bay is tackles with 68 and Clay Mathews has rung up 10 and a half sacks and has taken over games defensively. Tramon Williams leads the Pack in interceptions with three and Charles Woodson has two but is piling up the penalty yards.

Minnesota is 0-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 home games, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four games overall. Green Bay is 7-1-1 against the spread when playing a team with a losing record, 18-8 against the spread when playing against the NFC North, and 8-2-1 against the spread following a cover. The underdog is 17-6 in the last 23 meetings of these two teams.

The Packers won by four earlier this season in a game the Vikings had a chance to win right down to the final play as Favre threw three interceptions and the Packers defense was gashed by Adrian Peterson all night long. Favre is looking old and beaten, much like he looked a few years back in his lone season with the Jets but these teams are division rivals and it goes further than just Favre. I think the Vikings getting points at home are a solid play especially at a field goal and if we can get another half of a point or more, I like it even more.
